What’s in the
*middle*
of your mind?

What's in the middle of your mind?
What's in the middle of your mind?

Yesterday I spent some time with a friend and their friend. I’m always interested in hearing things that are different than the usual stuff, especially when meeting someone new.

And new friend told a story that they categorized as something from the “middle” of their mind.

It wasn’t from the front (aka top of mind) and it wasn’t from the back (aka somewhere in the deep recesses of our memory), but somewhere in the middle.

You could also think about this as something that doesn’t immediately come to mind (I.e within 5 seconds), but something that might take more like 15-20 seconds.

So take 15-20 seconds right now to think… after you move past the stuff from the front of your mind… what’s there in the middle of your mind?

And if you’re up for sharing, send me a personal message. I’ll tell you what came up in the middle of my mind. It was definitely unexpected.

Welcome to my other "gym" :)

Asking better questions is one of the keys to being a better communicator, making better decisions, and building and maintaining better relationships.

Just like a regular exercise practice keeps our bodies healthy and a regular reflection practice keeps our minds in shape too.

And when it comes to building (and maintaining) our capacity to ask the right questions… it’s not so different.

I advocate daily action in my work — and keep a daily practice in my own life.

Here are the questions that help keep my question-asking muscles in shape.
